What is it and how does it feel?
Deep tissue massage is a targeted, slow, but highly powerful treatment. It bypasses superficial strokes to focus on the deepest layers of muscle tissue and connective tissue (fascia). Using deep pressure with fingers, fists, and elbows, the therapist targets chronic knots and adhesions. The experience can feel intense and “comfortably painful” at times as the tension is released. Afterward, your body feels incredibly liberated, as if a massive weight has been lifted from your shoulders.
Who is it recommended for?
- People suffering from chronic (long-standing) muscle pain, tightness, or stiffness.
- Desk workers whose neck and shoulders are completely locked due to stress and slouching in front of a screen.
- Anyone who finds standard massages too light and needs real, intense, deep-tissue work.
